Description
The Ushikae Shinji, or "changing of the cow" is a ritual that replaces the Shingyu, or "divine ox" for a sacred event in fall. It is decided by lottery. The prizes for the lucky recipients, include a bull (yes, a live bull), gold, silver and bronze statues of cows and many many other items all provided by supporters of this lucky agricultural celebration.
