Description
According to legend, this festival started long, long ago, when an epidemic of rice grasshoppers completely destroyed the crops of the region. Someone had placed an insect made of woven straw on the head of a wooden dragon carving, the youths carried it around the town, parading to the sound of Naruko, and prayed for grasshoppers to leave and the harvest to make a recovery.
