Description
Yamabiraki is the ceremony marking the beginning of the mountain climbing season, and a time to pray for safe climbing. Folk performance arts of the local towns of Esashi, Sumita and Mizusawa are also held. The Taneyama Kogen Highlands are also known as the setting for many of Miyazawa Kenji's writings.
