The chinowa purification ritual cleanses you of impurities as you pass through a hoop made of Kaya (Japanese blood grass) three times in total, first to the left, then right, and then to the left again in a figure of 8. In this traditional Purification Festival (known as O-haraishiki), family's health & safety is wished for by transferring your spiritual impurities onto a figurine.
