Description
This festival was started 300 years ago, as a chance to pray for safety on the seas, by the Yamamoto family of Tachibanaya, (the birth family of Ryokan, the famous writer and Zen Buddhist)who were the shrine caretakers for generations. In the Showa Period, it was held in affiliation with other shrines as well, not only the Ishii Shrine. .
