Description
May 4th on the old lunar calendar is called "Yukka no hii" by the locals, a day for giving thanks to the ocean and praying for a good year of fishing. Teams from different communities race boats called "Harii" (sometimes pronounced Harley). A saying has it that if the Harii Gong rings, then the rainy season will end.
