The start of sweetfish (ayu) fishing season on the Chikugo River means river goers can enjoy the cormorant-fishing called Ukai that uses birds to catch the sweetfish. Watch the elegant net maneuvering of Japan's only solo female Ukai fisher. There is also a fireworks display.
