Description
The deity worshipped at Jigenji Temple, Yakushi-nyorai (Medicine Buddha) is well known for being a guardian of the eye. The festival is also referred to as the "Ame Yakushi (spelled Candy-yakushi)" for its famous "bukkaki-ame" candy, and due to the season and its likelihood of rain, the festival also holds its name "Ame Yakushi (spelled Rainy-yakushi)."
